The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization.
The American Legion is the nation's largest veterans service organization comitted to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities. 
The American Legion advocates patriotism and honor through promoting strong national security and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
Some of the programs include:
American Legion Baseball, one of the nation's most successful amateur athletic programs that promotes educating young people about the important of sportsmanship, citizenship and fitness.
Heroes to Hometowns is a program that connects local chapters with wounded warriors and their families, providing a variety of support activities.

While there are many more programs held on local levels, the American Legion's success depends entirely upon active membership, participation and volunteerism serving the local people and communitiesT it serves.
